WHAT: This six-week support and psychoeducation group for fathers is based in the attachment system of behaviors, an empirically based framework for understanding how parents and children establish working relationships with each other. The group is intended for men who are seeking to improve parenting skills and to form positive, flexible, and secure relationships with their children.
In a small group setting, the focus will be on providing a place where men can identify the kind of parenting they received and how it impacts their own parenting. Men will come to understand how successful fathers interact with their children, and what children need from their fathers. Each week will include reading and homework. Siegel, M.D. and Mary Hartzell, M.Ed. GROUP LEADERS: Kathryn Black, Ph.D.(c), is a psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder and author of the book Mothering Without a Map: The Search for the Good Mother Within (Penguin). Her clinical interests include the parent-child relationship and developmental trauma. She works with individuals, couples, and families. Trevor Graham, Psy.D., is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Boulder.
